Accessibility statement

Burger She Wrote wants everyone to be able to read the menu, find a store and place an order, whatever they browse with. This site is built and tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. We consider it partially conformant with that standard, which means most of the site meets it and the places that fall short are listed below rather than glossed over.
How we test it
- Every page is checked with two independent accessibility engines, axe-core and HTML_CodeSniffer, at both desktop and phone sizes.
- We walk the site with a keyboard only, checking that the skip link works, that focus is always visible, and that the menu opens and closes without a mouse.
- We check that the layout still works at 320 pixels wide, and that the site respects your setting if you have asked your device to reduce motion.
- Automated tools only catch part of what matters, so we also read through the things a tool cannot judge, such as whether images are described usefully and whether the page still makes sense in the order a screen reader reads it.
- These checks are re-run when the site changes, not only at launch, and the reports are kept on file.
Where the site falls short
Some parts of this site are provided by other companies. We chose them and we will help you around them, but we do not control how accessible they are:
- Online ordering is handled by Toast. Choosing a store takes you to Toast's own ordering pages.
- Merchandise checkout is handled by Stripe, on a payment page Stripe hosts.
- Maps on the location pages are embedded from Google Maps. Every address is also written out as text beside the map, so you never need the map to find a store.
- Instagram photos on the home page come from our Instagram account.
If any of those gets in your way, contact us and we will take your order or give you the information directly.
Tell us when something does not work
If you run into a barrier here we want to hear about it, and you do not need to describe it in technical terms. Tell us what you were trying to do and what happened.
- Email: info@burgershewrote.com
- The contact form on this site
- In person at any of our locations
We aim to respond within five business days. If there is something on the site you cannot get to, tell us what you need and we will get it to you another way while we fix the underlying problem.
About this statement
This statement describes the site as it stood on the date above, and it is re-dated each time the site is re-tested. It is not a certification: there is no body that certifies websites as accessible, and any site that claims otherwise is overstating it.
